Cookie Policy

This policy covers cookies and similar technologies, such as your browser's local storage, on our website (my-kaizen.com), in our web app (my-kaizen.app), which also runs inside our Windows app, and in our iPhone, iPad, and Android apps. Read it together with our Privacy Policy.

Our website

  • No cookies of our own, no analytics of our own, no ads. my-kaizen.com does not set cookies itself and does not measure your visits itself.
  • Your theme and faster pages. If you pick the light or dark theme, the site saves that choice in your browser's local storage so it looks the way you set it. When you move between pages, it can also keep a copy of the site's text there so later pages load faster. Neither contains anything about you, and neither leaves your browser.
  • Hosting. Cloudflare hosts the site. To protect it from attacks, Cloudflare can set a short-lived security cookie that helps it tell people from bots.
  • Newsletter and feedback forms. The newsletter page loads a sign-up form from Kit, and the feedback page loads a form from Notion, as soon as you open those pages. Kit and Notion then receive your IP address. Kit stores a random identifier in your browser's local storage and records your visit, including the page address and the page you came from. Notion may set its own cookies. Both do this under their own policies.

Our web app and Windows app

  • Signing in, settings, and offline use. The web app keeps your sign-in session, your settings, a copy of your tasks, habits, and focus history, and the music and backgrounds you download, plus any custom background image you pick, in your browser's storage (local storage and IndexedDB), so you stay signed in and it works offline. It also uses session storage, until you close the tab, to remember that you dismissed the install prompt and that the app already started in that tab. The app needs these to do what you ask of it, such as keeping you signed in or playing music offline.
  • Hosting. Cloudflare also hosts the web app and can set the same short-lived security cookie.
  • Usage statistics and error reports. The web app sends usage statistics to PostHog and error reports to Sentry. Neither uses cookies or browser storage: the identifier for statistics exists only in memory and changes each time the page loads. To send them, the app reads technical details from your browser, such as its version and language. The Privacy Policy explains what is sent and how to object.
  • Icons. The web app loads some icons from Iconify's public icon service, which receives your IP address.
  • Checkout. When you buy Premium on the web or in the Windows app, RevenueCat's checkout loads Stripe's payment form, and Stripe may set cookies to prevent card fraud. They load only when you start a purchase.
  • No advertising or cross-site tracking. The web app does not use cookies to track you across websites or to show you ads.

Our iPhone and Android apps

The apps store your sign-in session, your settings, a copy of your data for offline use, downloaded music and backgrounds, any custom background image, and your list of blocked apps on your device. Sentry keeps a random installation identifier and any unsent error reports there. Expo keeps random installation identifiers for update checks and push notifications, and on Android, Google's Firebase keeps one to deliver notifications. The Privacy Policy explains these.

Managing cookies and storage

Your browser lets you see and delete cookies and site storage in its settings. Clearing the web app's storage signs you out and removes downloaded music and backgrounds. On a phone, deleting the app removes everything it stored.
