Pomodoro timer + Focus Rooms

Focus better, together

Kaizen is a Pomodoro timer with Focus Rooms: quiet spaces where you study next to other people in real time. No video, no small talk. Just the steady pull of a room full of people getting work done.
The Kaizen timer on a laptop: 20:26 left in a focus session, tagged Study, with a task, a habit, and a Focus Room
Kaizen statistics on a tablet: a 42-day streak, the focus trend, and focus by hour and by weekday

The problem

Willpower runs out. A room full of people doesn't.

You sit down to study, then your phone wins. Again. Focus Rooms fix this the way a library does, with other people: when someone can see you are focusing, it is harder to drift. And when the pull is the phone in your hand, app blocking keeps the apps that get you closed until the session ends.
Focus Rooms

Study alongside people who are also heads-down

Join a public room for free, or spin up your own. Everyone runs their own timer, and you can see who is focusing, who is on a break, and who stepped away. Working next to someone who is also working is called body doubling, and it is the whole idea behind the rooms.
  • See who is focusing
Live status for everyone in the room, focusing, on a break, paused, away, or idle, plus the tag each person is working under.
  • Free to join and host
Join any public room or a private one with its code, and host your own private room for up to 4, without paying.
  • 2 to 50 people
Sit in a small study group or a packed hall. You set the size.
  • Presence that means something
Leave the app for more than 15 minutes and you are removed. Being there is the point.

The timer

A Pomodoro timer you will actually want to look at

Pick a preset or set your own from 5 to 180 minutes. Or switch to the stopwatch when you would rather stop where the work stops than when a bell rings. Either way it keeps perfect time in the background, so you can stop watching the clock and start working.
  • Your intervals
Classic 25/5, Quick, Extended, Long Focus 90/15, or anything from 5 to 180 minutes.
  • Or let it count up
Set the timer to Stopwatch, work until you are done, then hit Finish. Your break stays the length you set.
  • Runs in the background
Built on the system clock, so it stays accurate with the screen off or while you use other apps.
  • Knows when to nudge
Sounds, vibration, and a controllable notification when a session ends.

App blocking

The apps that get you, closed while you work

Social, games, news, whatever gets you: put them on the list and Kaizen blocks them while a work session runs. Your break hands them back. Three apps free, on iPhone, iPad, and Android.
  • On with the timer
Blocking starts with your work session and ends when it does. Breaks always lift it.
  • Or block now
One free button blocks your list until you turn it off, timer or not.
  • An exit you set yourself
Decide in advance how often you can open a blocked app, after how long a wait, and for how long.

Tasks

Know exactly where your time went

Pin a task, start the timer, and Kaizen logs the minutes against it on its own. No timesheet, no guessing afterward.
  • Capture first, plan later
Type a thought into the Inbox in one line.
  • Tap to focus
Set one task active. Every minute you work counts toward it automatically.
  • Subtasks and estimates
Break big work down and watch the progress fill in.

Habits

The daily stuff, right next to the deep work

Reading, stretching, planning the day: track the habits around your focus sessions without a second app. Free for up to 5 habits.
  • Fed by the timer
Focus-time habits fill their minute target automatically while you run Pomodoros.
  • Forgiving streaks
Streaks follow your schedule. Skips and rest days never break the chain.
  • Flexible schedules
Daily, set days, or a number of times per week. You decide what counts.

Progress

Watch the hours add up

The work does not vanish when the timer stops. Kaizen keeps a daily streak going and turns your focused minutes into stats you will actually want to check.
  • Daily streaks
Milestone tiers shift color as your streak grows. Showing up is the habit.
  • See your focus time
The last 30 days for free. Premium opens all-time.
  • Focus by tag
Label a session Work, Study, or Personal and see where your hours actually go.
  • Find your patterns
Focus by hour and weekday, so you learn when you do your best work.

An amazing app to have all the things at one place! A timer, a todo and a room to study in with your friends. I’ve been wanting to study with my friends without using social media or distracting apps, and this is really it.

Best productivity app yet! Love how I can compare estimated vs actual time of my tasks and stay motivated in the focus rooms.

The app has a relaxed and beautiful composition, soothing music, nice backgrounds… A nice and welcome feature to track your work versus the time spent… Rooms make it so you can study with other friends in the app, driving motivation and discipline. I am a believer and I’m sure you will be too.
